Christopher Sankarlal
Christopher Sankarlal is a secondary school graduate from J. Clarke Richardson Collegiate located in Ajax, Ontario. He graduated with the honour roll, Ontario scholar, and highest proficiency in science among the class of 2021. He will attending the University of Windsor for an undergraduate degree in Biological Sciences in the fall. Christopher worked very hard this year and achieved an overall average of 95%.
Christopher has an interest in music that crosses over varying instruments. He has learned to play the flute, the steel pan and now the piano. Christopher was part of the steelpan band at his church and contributed his talents to other churches such as White Oak in Mississauga. He also played at events for the Tropicana Community Centre in Scarborough, which is where he learned how to play the instrument. It was there that Christopher realized he enjoyed playing percussion instruments.
Before attending secondary school, Christopher took the opportunity to volunteer at the summer camp Cairn’s “Camp in Your Own Backyard” program for children ages 5-15. There he supervised younger children requiring special attention through one-on-one sessions. Christopher eventually had 45 hours worth of volunteer service before he had even started high school, thus exceeding the necessary 40 of community service.
Christopher would like to focus specifically on genetics during his time at the University of Windsor so that he can pursue a career in genetic counselling or genetic engineering.
