11-year old Kaiya is currently recovering from an injury she endured after becoming a Provincial Gymnastics Champion last year.  At school she dedicated herself to excelling in all her grade 6 subjects, receiving an overall A average.  She also assisted the school principal with administrative duties.  Kaiya was identified as a role model by her teacher and peers for showing compassion and providing support to other students dealing with difficult situations. For this, she received the school’s award of ‘Discerning Believer’.

This summer, Kaiya is excited to embrace her Caribbean culture further by participating (playing mas) in Toronto’s 2023 Junior Carnival Parade. By volunteering for ‘Gibbs Walk’, an annual fundraiser for Alzheimer’s disease, she hopes to encourage children ages 10 and under to participate.

In Gymnastics she received Events Medalists Group Banner for:

  • 2022 Provincial Bars, Beam & Floor  Champion (Level 3; Age 11)

Kaiya will also be receiving a 2021-2022 Certificate of Recognition for Ontario Champion
–  Ontario Championships Participant
–  Bars, Beam & Floor Ontario Champion

Kaiya is happy to be included as one of the ongoing Laura Anderson Bursaries through The Grant Morris Foundation.
